Urdu:  Yak zarra e zameen naheen baikaar baagh ka
          Yaan jaada bhee fateela hay lala kay daagh ka 

English:=== Without the flowers a garden is naught
                  And a tulip is nothing without its spot
                                          -

Urdu:  Bai mai kisay hay taaqat e aashoab e aagahi
          Khhaicha hay ijz e housla nay khat ayaagh ka 

English:=== Oh, life is painful without the wine
                  And a barman's offer is hard to decline
                                          -

Urdu:  Bulbul kay kaar o baar pay haen khandaha e gul
          Kehtay haen jis ko ishq, khalal hay dimaagh ka 

English:=== This love is madness, O nightingale
                  See. the flowers laugh whenever you wail
                                          -

Urdu:  Taaza naheen hay nashsha e fikr e sukhan mujhay
          Tiryaaki e qadeem houn dood e charaagh ka

English:=== So, therefore, I go and write my verse
                  And myself in it I completely immerse
                                            -

Urdu:  Saw baar band e ishq say aazaad hum huay
          Per kya karaen keh dil hi adoo hay faraagh ka

English:  And though I have tried again and again
              From loving the girls I cannot abstain
                                            -

Urdu:  Bai khoon e dil hay chashm maen moaj e nigeh ghubaar
          Yeh maikada kharaab hay mai kay suraagh ka

                  Just like in a bar a lover wants wine

Urdu:  Baagh e shagufta taera bisaat e nishaat e dil
          Abr e bahaar khumkada kis kay dimaagh ka
