New Prompt: Write something about a do-it-yourself job gone awry. MY D.I.Y. JOB WENT AWRY! My D.I.Y. job went awry before I finished it; My hobby's fixing broken lamps, I don't know when to quit! I tackled my old college lamp; it needed a socket and cord, but then ran short of funds to fix; had to hock it!! I got it back and noticed that its brass had lost its shine-- its once brightly gleaming sheen sought intervention devine! I dug into the faulty wires; it needed a switch-- I put one in; expecting it to work without a hitch! But, silly me, I was not sure how to make it work right; I put it on and mindlessly fastened the whole thing tight, but tight was not the answer and I stripped a small screw, right after I had shocked myself hard--that shock caused me a fright! I took it to professionals; my longing was to throw it away; concede defeat--was done with D.Y.I!. No longer was I tempted to rekindle my old lamp's glow! The lamp shop used its expertise to make my old lamp go!
