Urdu:  Arz e niaaz e ishq kay qaabil naheen raha
          Jis dil pay naaz tha mujhay wo dil naheen raha

English:=== It has lost its fire; it has lost its glow
                  What happened to my heart, I do not know
                                          -

Urdu:  Jaata houn daagh e hasrat e hasti liay huay
          Houn sham e kushta, darkhur e mehfil naheen raha

English:=== For whatever happened there's no one to blame
                  But I'm losing fire; I'm a dying flame
                                          -

Urdu:  Mernay ki aey dil aur hi tadbeer ker keh maen
          Shaayaan e dast o baazoo e qatil naheen raha

English:=== She wouldn't even agree to take my life
                  For it is not worth soiling her knife
                                          -

Urdu:  Ber roo e shashjahat der e a'aina baaz hay
          Yaan imtiaaz e naaqis o kaamil naheen raha

English:=== Oh, it's hard to believe, and it's so sad
                  But she cannot distinguish between good and bad
                                          -

Urdu:  Wa ker diay haen shouq nay band e naqaab e husn
          Ghair az nigah ab koie haail naheen raha

English:=== To see her beauty although I'm free
                  I get so dazzled that I cannot see
                                          -

Urdu:    Go maen raha raheen e sitamha e roazgaar
            Laikin teray khayaal say ghaafil naheen raha

English:=== And though I'm crushed by sorrow and pain
                  From thinking of her I cannot refrain
                                            -

Urdu:  Dil maen hawa e kisht e wafa mit gaie keh waan
          Haasil siwaay husrat e haasil naheen raha

English:=== And though I've lost my wish and desire
                  To see her with luck I still conspire
                                            -

Urdu:  Baidaad e ishq say naheen derta mager ASAD
          Jis dil pay naaz tha mujhay wo dil naheen raha

English:=== And, GHALIB, though beauty I still admire
                  My woeful heart has lost its fire
