When you love someone but you're not in love.

The Question

The fact that we still ask each other
Is the proof of it's non-existance
To question if we could leave another
Is a question met with much resistance

And though our heads have long denied
The truth to set our hearts truly free
We settle and choose to hide within
Avoiding the question, "Do You Love Me?"

"I  love You", Yes, It can be said
But it's only half true I'm afraid
Saying I'm "in" love with you is a sin
For it's a place you and I were never in.

We began our bittersweet marriage
with a passionate question long ago
Not one to cause you pain or disparriage
I let space between us further grow

So here we are now further
Down the troubled road
We sit head bowed in silence
With the reality disclosed

So we will gather up the pieces
and be on our separate way
I hope someone finds you who can
love you as you loved me every day.
