"Assault"/huntemann Page 9
Prologue Scene [3] Dash to BCH Ambulance en-route to BCH ER. 1995/04/07 16:39-16:41 With the gurney locked into place and pure oxygen flowing into the resuscitator bag, the ambulance departs for BCH. A siren drowns out the burps from the bag while James keeps up heart massage. The driver, EMT #1, calls ahead via C-MED radio to alert the emergency room noting the lack of vital signs. EMT #2, in the back, aspirates the girl en-route. The ambulance only has to go four blocks to BCH. While in transit, Boyle relays the girl’s identity from her purse left in the apartment. “You’ve gotta be kidding,” Sullivan says. “She’s almost twenty-one? She looks so small.” “That’s what’s on her ID,” Boyle says, “she’s from New Hampshire.” Sullivan fills out the paperwork hastily, finishing just as the rear door is opened at the ER.
