Urdu: Ishrat e qatra hay darya maen fana ho jaana Dard ka had say guzarna hay dawa ho jaana English:=== I'm a drop of rain; I seek the ocean When my pain is too much, it becomes the potion - Urdu: Tujh say qismat maen meri soorat e qufl e abjad Tha likha baat kay bantay hi juda ho jaana English:=== For long we couldn't see eye to eye When things got better, she said good-bye - Urdu: Dil hua kashmakash e chaara e zehmat say tamaam Mit gaya ghisnay say is uqday ka waa ho jaana English:=== The problems we had were all too knotty And the progress we made was very, very spotty - Urdu: Ab jafa say bhee haen mehroom hum, Allah, Allah Is qadar dushman e arbaab e wafa ho jaana English:=== And now she's as cold as she can be And somehow she has stopped being cruel to me - Urdu: Zoaf say girya mubaddal ba dam e sard hua Baawar aaya hamaen paani ka hawa ho jaana English:=== Now instead of weeping I can only sigh My tears I have learnt to gasify - Urdu: Dil say mitna teri angusht e hinaaie ka khayaal Ho gaya gosht say nakhun ka jada ho jaana English:=== Her painted nails O how can I forget They are red, and blue, and violet - Urdu: Hay mujhay abr e bahaari ka baras ker khulna Roatay, roatay gham e furqat maen fana ho jaana English:=== My flowing tears when I can contain The clouds disperse, and it stops to rain - Urdu: Ger naheen nik'hat e gul ko teray koochay ki hawas Kuin hay gard e reh e joalaan e saba ho jaana English:=== When the scent of flowers goes into the air It wants to reach and stay in her hair - Urdu: Taa keh tujh per khulay aijaaz e hawa e saiqal Daekh bursaat maen sabz a'ainay ka ho jaana English:=== And when in spring it begins to rain My clarity of judgment starts to wane - Urdu: Bakhshay hay jalwa e gul zoaq e tamaasha GHALIB Chashm ko chaahiay her rang maen waa ho jaana English:=== Then things of beauty I start to chase And, GHALIB, I yearn to see her face ====
