While reading my poetry monitor
I came upon your heart's effort
and gave you a pat on the back
with cactus hands.
Cold ice words were poured at you.
I treated you as not you,
but as every machine
I had ever read.
The unforgiving mechanics
of others schemes and
forms not fashioned
to my arbitrary satisfaction,
becoming what I had argued against,
Just a machine that did not
know a heart when I saw one.

I am sorry.
