You
Looking back.

Your footsteps left ripples in the water,
bouncing from side to side and back again,
over the years only dissipating,
but never quite disappearing.

Your voice left echoes among the mountains,
indiscernible words left to linger,
the sentiments easily imagined,
and not so easily remembered.

Your smile resonates on the paper,
a sparkle in your eyes,
perhaps nothing but a lie,
haunting me from the past.
