WHEN THE SUN CRIES

O’ mighty red light
O’ mighty hot light
Your flames blaze with fury
And yet I see the river in your eyes
The mighty sun cries!
I watch in complete awe
Then I heard it too
Dead souls calling for her
“Mother, mother, mother save our children”
They were the souls of the innocent
The innocent men and women
Killed in armed conflict

She looked at them and said
I called you A  ,FRI , CA
So you would be a free country
A land so rich it flowed with milk and honey
But all I see is intolerance
I had many children
Each with different strengths and weaknesses
Your diversity should be a source of strength
And not animosity
In unity lies fortitude

When I looked at her again
I saw something so spectacular
All the tears couldn’t quench her fire
All the screams became a burning desire
All the bloodshed turned into love
And all the brothers and sisters became
Burn on, oh mighty one
For your enemies have been out-done
