Summer Autumn Winter Spring
A peom about the seasons through which a relationship goes from flirting to serious love

We had laughter
Tears streaming from our eyes
Loud, vibrant, belly-deep
We had conversation
Deep introspective exchange
Heart outpour, mine to yours
It was the summer of our days

We had disagreements
Opposing responses and ideas
Also loud and passionate
We had compromise
Choosing to yield to reason
Shedding old habits, fostering new
It was the autumn of our days

We had tears
Gut-wrenching, laden grief
Dark sorrow, immense pain
We had fears
The inability to see the dream
The lack of vision for the future
It was the winter of our days

We gave birth to new life
We called her Hope
For the promise she bore in her innocence
We had insight
An understanding of things past and yet unseen
An appreciation of the present
It was the spring of our days

We laughed, we cried, we bled, we died
We danced, we hoped, we fought, we lost
We had pleasure, we had pain, we had it all
Summer, Autumn, Winter, Spring, the seasons of our life
