SILENCE

SILENCE

Silence is of many types,
Ominous and pleasant,
Just as sweet or offensive
To smell may be a scent

When one is morose, sulking,
When spirits are just down,
Silence is no more golden;
It elicits a frown.

Silence may hide vengeance
Of a spouse that has spite
Against something perceived as
Having been done not right.

Silence can be pregnant with
An inward lovely smile
Biding for its moment of
Sweet and innocent guile.

Silence can be hesitant,
Unsure of passing glance,
Casual or harbinger
Of emotional dance.

May this phase of silence be
A fleeting incidence.
May there be an inner bliss,
The silence mere pretence.
