Urdu:  Aah ko chahiay ik umr asar honay tak
          Kon jeeta hay teri zulf kay ser honay tak

English:=== The wishes take ages to materialize
                  And I'll not live to win the prize
                                          -

Urdu:  Daam e her moaj maen hay halqa e sad kaam e nihang
          Daekhaen kya guzray hay qatray pay goher honay tak

English:=== O when it begins, it's only a dot
                  But to become a pearl it takes a lot
                                          -

Urdu:  Aashiqi sabrtalab aur tamanna baitaab
          Dil ka kya rang keroun khoon e jiger honay tak

English:=== Oh, love wants patience, and the wish has none
                  And this waiting and waiting well, it's no fun
                                            -

Urdu:  Maen nay maana keh taghaful na kero gay laikin
          Khaak ho jaaen gay hum tum ko khaber honay tak

English:=== I know my darling, she'll not delay
                  But what if she comes, and I'm on my way

Urdu:  Pertu e khur say hay shabnum ko fana ki taaleem
          Maen bhee houn aek inaayat ki nazer honay tak

English:=== Oh, I'm like dew, and she's like sun
                  When I see her face, I'll be undone

Urdu:  Yak nazer baish naheen fursat e hasti ghaafil
          Germi e bazm hay ik raqs e sharer honay tak

English:=== And life is short and the time flies
                  And we're dead and gone before we realize

Urdu:  Gham e hasti ka ASAD kis say ho juz merg ilaaj
          Shamey her rang naen jalti hay saher honay tak
