Urdu:  Wo firaaq aur wo wisaal kahaan
          Wo shab o roz o maah o saal kahaan

English:=== The meetings and partings are there no more
                  O whatever happened to the days of yore?
                                          -

Urdu:  Fursat e kaar o baar e shouq kisay
          Zoaq e nazzaara e jamaal kahaan

English:=== What happened to yearning, and where is desire
                  And where are the people who beauty admire?
                                            -

Urdu:  Dil toe dil wo dimaagh bhee na raha
          Shoar e sauda e khad o khaal kahaan

English:=== Those rosy cheeks why people forgot
                  And where are the lovers of the beauty spot?
                                            -

Urdu:  Thi wo ik shakhs kay tasawwur say
          Ab wo raanaaie e khayaal kahaan

English:=== The mention of love only brings up a yawn
                  And the notion of beauty is all but gone
                                            -

Urdu:  Aisa aasaan naheen lahoo rona
          Dil maen taaqat, jiger maen haal kahaan

English:=== And whatever happened to the tears of blood?
                  They used to rain, oh, they used to flood
                                            -

Urdu:  Hum say choota qumaarkhaana e ishq
          Waan jo jaa'aen, gireh maen maal kahaan

English:=== On love and beauty why nobody gambles?
                  Why the betting places are all in shambles?

Urdu:  Fikr e dunya maen ser khapaata houn
          Maen kahaan aur yeh wabaal kahaan

English:=== How the love on people has lost its clout
                  Now everyday woes they all worry about

Urdu:  Muzmahil ho gaay qavi, GHALIB
          Wo anasir maen aetadaal kahaan
