Forbidden Fruit
This is a poem about a love a man has for someone he just can't reach.

In the stillness at the waters edge,
He stood beneath the shadowed moon.
Gazing upon the mirrored lake;
In thought, he was consumed.

A furrowed brow,perhaps despair,
Had creased his once smooth face.
Twitching the edges below his lids,
Where tears would take its place.

To dance the sway of a somber song,
With the drums rhythmic beating.
Fades the ghostly image there,
With each drop the soul is bleeding.

For in agony of a tattered heart,
He sees her reflection standing there.
He reaches out to grasp her hand,
Only to grab the empty air.

And in that moment of clarity,
He whispers out her name.
For in the harsh reality, in his mind;
Nothing... will ever be the same.
