The Dress from the Goodwill Store
An innocent young lady seeks a partner through feigned modesty.

This item requires reviews with ratings.
A woman with pride who had possessions galore
Loved wearing a dress from the Goodwill Store.
Her loving family and church friends provided
Such love and teachings, it was all so one-sided.
But still her life was an emotional mess,
And she often drew fire for wearing that dress.

It was shabbily-colored and not very well-made,
But showed a love for Jesus and the God she obeyed.
It covered her from head to foot, not to tease,
The men of this world whom lustfulness might please,
Though she constantly prayed and beseeched to her Maker
To find her a partner for life, any taker.

But her entire philosophy of life symbolized
Her ideal to conform, to get love she visualized,
This symbolic dress showing sinful love and pride
For only herself, with God by her side!
She only wore that ugly dress to be equal
To a lifelong partner who wasn’t the devil!

Had she flaunted her innocence with care,
There might’ve been takers, without a stare…
She should have spoke willingly and gracefully until
A partner could see her young wishes and fulfill
Their blessed dreams of togetherness and love,
A love story written from Heaven above!

As it stands now, things will never work out –
A proud lady in that dress, there can be little doubt…
They’ll mistake her for trash, and the plans that she laid
Will never become real, despite all that she prayed.
Advance that innocence that’s chosen to stay,
For that pride remains a feature of youth to this day.
