My mind was racing, but my feet were slow. The car was fast, the child faster. My heart pounded as the child was pushed clear. Tires screeched. Bouncing off hood, I landed on pavement. Searing pain enveloped me. Crowd gathered. Sirens screamed. Smile lit my face as Mom hugged her son. Angels took me home.
