Woke up one mornin', saw that big red dawn.
Woke up one mornin', saw that big red dawn.
All, the friends I've ever had are gone.

It all started on some sad and overcast morn.
It all began on some uneventful morn.
It felt like the times the teacher looked at you with scorn.

I saw her walkin' down the road, comin' my way.
I saw her walkin' down the road, comin' my way.
My eyes couldn't even blink, I'll always remember that day.

I felt that ice cold wind blow, up and down my back.
Felt that ice cold wind blow, up and down my back.
I saw that high mountain loomin', up above my hair so black.

They stole her away, put her on a ship goin' down.
They stole her away, on a ship goin' way way down.
Never did expect to see her come back around.

That night when we layed, 'neath the shooting stars.
That night when we layed, 'neath them shooting stars;
before they stoler her away, I told her, everything would be ours.

Maybe she loved me, or maybe she didn't.
Maybe she loved me, maybe she didn't.
Either way, I loved her, even if she hadn't.

I woke up, and she was gone, her clothes were there.
I woke up, she was gone, but her clothes were there.
I still remember the scent that was within her crimson hair.

I ran outside, and down to that old, gray shore.
I ran outisde, down to that old, gray shore.
I felt the tragedian from those plays of ancient lore.

The day after the next, I rounded a crew and hoisted sail.
The day after the next, I rounded a crew and hoisted sail.
Heard the winds howl from above, felt the rain pouind like hail.

We chased, and raced; with a broken compass and useless knowledge.
We chased and raced; with a broken compass and useless knowledge.
One day, the crow spied a ship, with a reckognizable ledge.

The ship we spied was a merchant vessel, we had no place.
The ship we spied was a merchant vessel, we had no place.
They had big guns, they blew the skin off of our face.

I was taken ill, and down below the deck.
I was taken ill, and down below the deck.
I was all alone again, bleeding from my neck.

Took a rowboat home, found my home burned down.
Took a rowboat home, found my home burned down.
My love was gone, and my friends too, everything broke on down.

Woke up one mornin', saw that big red dawn.
Woke up one mornin', saw that big red dawn.
All, the friends I've ever had are gone.
