Eight times I’ve been a bridesmaid.
Eight dresses I have bought. Eight receptions later, No bouquet have I caught! Guess you could say that the time Is not right yet for me. I don’t have a steady Who’d ask me to marry! It would just be nice to date! He need not be a prince. I kissed a lot of frogs To know that makes no sense! A friend has now just asked me To be in wedding number nine If I have any luck, I’ll meet this man of mine! You know the age old saying “The third time is the charm” For me it may be nine If not, then what’s the harm? On the way to the rehearsal I hailed a yellow cab The same time as a man. We shared, and rode and gabbed. Turns out that he was going Right to the same address! He was the groom’s cousin And cute, I must confess! Now that the wedding’s over We’re dating! Lucky me! He’s told me he’s in love And I’m in ecstasy! Guess nine’s my lucky number Because I met my guy We’ll always be together, And I’ll love him ‘til I die. 36 lines
