                                Ghalib Urdu 55


Urdu:  Zikr maera ba badi bhee usay manzoor naheen
          Ghair ki baat bigarh ja'ay toe kuchh dour naheen

English:=== No, she wouldn't hear anything about me
                  So let him say what he wants, my enemy
                                            -

Urdu:  Waada e saer e gulistaan hay, khusha tala e shouq
          Muzhda e qatl muqadder hay jo mazkoor naheen

Engflish:=== She said in the park she'll take a walk
                    But about me killing she wouldn't even talk
                                            -

Urdu:  Shaahid e hasti e mutlaq ki kamer hay aalam
          Loag kehtay haen keh hay per hamaen manzoor naheen

English:=== To her waist this world I can easily compare
                  Oh yes, it's there but it's also not there
                                              -

Urdu:  Qtra apna bhee haqiqat maen hay darya laikin
          Hum ko taqleed e tunakzarfi e Mansoor naheen

English:=== But I don't agree with the mystical notion
                  I may be a drop but I'm not the ocean
                                              -

Urdu:  Hasrat aey zoaq e kharaabi keh wo taaqat na rahi
          Ishq e purarbada ki goon tan e ranjoor naheen

English:=== Oh, the woes of my love have made me weak
                  I'm sick and tired; my future is bleak         
                                              -

Urdu:  Maen jo kehta houn keh hum laen gay qayaamat maen tumhaen
          Kis raoonat say wo kehtay haen keh hum hoor naheen

English:=== When I said, "In Heaven you'll sit on my knee"
                  She said, "I'm no houri; don't talk to me"
                                              -

Urdu:  Zulm ker zulm ager lutf daraegh aata hay
          Too taghaaful maen kisi rang say maazoor naheen

English:=== As long as she's mine, whether she's fair
                  Or cruel or callous, I do not care
                                              -

Urdu:  Saaf durdikash e paimaana e Jum haen hum loag
          Waay wo baada keh afshurda e angoor naheen

English:=== Oh, I'm a toper with a magical bowl
                  In it I can find the secret of my soul
                                              -

Urdu:  Houn Zahoori kay muqaabil maen khifaaie GHALIB
          Maeray da'away pay yeh hujjat hay keh mashhoor naheen

English:=== But, GHALIB, of poetry I may be the king 
                  When compared to Zahoori I'm just nothing
