                                                       GO FIGURE

Every family has someone like Silas .  The one who marches to his own drummer; who sees things just a little cattywonkus.

The Millers were a very solid family, conservative, right wing, backbone of America type people.  They were hard working, practical, law abiding and very, very responsible.

Except Silas.  Silas would rather fish than go to school when he was a kid and as a grown man he would rather fish than go to work.

As he got into his teens his parents became more and more concerned since Silas had not chosen a profession and the way he was going probably would not get into college at all.  They lectured long and loud and to no avail.

When Silas finally did get into college and moved away from the homestead there was a general sigh of relief.  Maybe now he would get somewhere.

When he came home from school on holiday his parents were appalled to see his hair shoulder length and his beard -- well, obviously he did not own a razor.

He was lectured and reasoned with but seemed not to hear.

Sara Miller finished college and became a teacher.  Alex was ordained and became a minister.  Steven is an accountant.  All three were descendants to be proud of doing honorable work in true Miller tradition.

Silas, however, strummed his guitar, went fishing and lived his own kind of life.  He also invented a computer gadget. He is also the  Miller with the twenty million dollars.
