deception
when it’s deliberate
is a source of everlasting pain;
wondering after it if you will be the same.
betrayal strikes us differently,
trust is lost in matters
of the heart,
how could you be naïve
defending him when you wouldn’t see
he was oh so subtle when telling tales to you;
saying he loved you ever dearly,
missing you every day,
just his way
but being your first love,
you were enamored by his ardor
never thinking that it was one of many lines
that he played out with other women,
it was with you that he
made his start.
