Walking on the Beach
Life is full of small frustrations

Avg Rating: (3)
Prompt: Write a story or poem about being at the beach but, frustratingly, being unable (for whatever reason(s) you can come up with) to go into the ocean.
Line Count: 20

I walk beyond the touch of the waves
The hot sand is scorching my toes,
I hear the ocean calling my name,
The bright sun is blistering my nose.

I want to enter the sea’s cool embrace,
The hot sand is scorching my toes,
I want to feel the water’s salty kiss,
The bright sun is blistering my nose.

I dare not put my feet into the waves,
The hot sand is scorching my toes,
I dare not submit to my desires,
The bright sun is blistering my nose.

If I give in to temptation,
The hot sand is scorching my toes,
The current will pull me under,
The bright sun is blistering my nose.

If it weren’t for this cast on my arm,
The hot sand is scorching my toes,
I could swim in the Pacific,
The bright sun is blistering my nose
