Urdu:  Deewaangi say doash pay zinnaar bhee naheen
          Yaani hamaari jaib maen ik taar bhee naheen

English:=== I'm totally mad; my clothes are torn
                  Oh, I'm so exhausted, so tired, so worn
                                          -

Urdu:  Dil ko niyaaz e hasrat e deedaar ker chukay
          Daekha toe hum maen taaqat e deedaar bhee naheen

English:=== With my beautiful gal I would love to be
                  But me she dazzles, and I cannot see
                                            -

Urdu:  Milna tera ager naheen aasaan toe sehl hay
          Dushwaar toe yehi hay keh dushwaar bhee naheen

English:=== Oh love is a slope that's very, very greasy
                  And it may look easy but it isn't so easy
                                            -

Urdu:  Bai ishq umr kat naheen sakti hay aur yaan
          Taaqat ba qadr e lazzat e aazaar bhee naheen

English:=== A life without love is not really life
                  Though love has plenty of pain and strife
                                              -

Urdu:  Shoreedgi kay haath say hay ser wabaal e doash
          Sahra maen aey Khuda koie deewaar bhee naheen

English:=== These crazy ideas in my head I dread
                  I should go to a wall and smash my head

Urdu:  Gunjaaish e adaawat e aghiaar yak taraf
          Yaan dil maen zoaf say hawas e yaar bhee naheen

English:=== Away from my rivals a place I seek
                  My love has made me so frail and weak
                                                -

Urdu:  Dar naalaha e zaar say maeray, Khuda ko maan
          Aakhir nawa e murgh e gariftaar bhee naheen

English:=== Oh, I'm her captive; I'm her prey
                  To me some attention I wish she'd pay
                                                -

Urdu:  Dil maen hay yaar ki saf e mizhgaan say rookashy
          Haalaankeh taaqat e khalish e khaar bhee naheen

English:=== Her long eyelashes are daggers and knives
                  When stabbed by them, no heart survives
                                                -

Urdu:  Is saadgi pay koan na mer ja'ay aey Khuda
          Lerhtay haen aur haath maen talwaar bhee naheen

English:=== And when she's angry, her lovers take flight
                  She has no sword but she can really fight
                                                -

Urdu:  Daekha ASAD ko khilwat o jilwat maen baarha
          Deewaana ger naheen hay toe hushiar bhee naheen

English:=== So, GHALIB, by now it should be quite plain
                  I may not be crazy but neither am I sane
