The Night
It doesn't last forever.

Sombre shadows cascade,
on what was once vibrant green.
The colour and zest
of bustling life, now unseen.

Menacing fingers stab,
at what was once blue and gay.
The nurturing light
faded, to black and grey.

Under cloak of darkness
the forest lays in wait
for a glimpse of dawn
to trickle, forcing night's abate.
