Twisted Treasures
A thief can find some strange things hidden under a bed...

The box opened, but only after seventeen minutes prying.  Ornate with little jewels, I figured it contained special treasures.  Why else would someone hide their stuff beneath a bed, under lock and key?  Lid raised, there didn't possibly exist anybody more incredulous.  Toenails.  Plus some corn flakes, perfectly preserved.

“You’re kidding.”

Was something missing?  Had another thief stolen my fortune first?  Who kept body trimmings or old cereal hidden so carefully?

“Okay, without doubt, this takes one big gold medal of strangeness.”

In no way could an explanation be forthcoming, unless police were involved.  Confusion has plagued me ever since.
