A small group collected under a sign marked: Terrific Tours – Shuttle-Flight Waiting Area.
A bright red man walked up and joined the queue. He looked like a cross between Hell-Boy and the devil. The group parted quickly to allow him to be first in line.
A beautiful woman whose blue uniform matched her blue hair, opened the door to the shuttle's walk-way and announced. "Please present your boarding passes and wait for the green light to commence boarding." She took the ticket of the scarlet man and proceeded down the line.
A glistening green man apologized for the ooze on his ticket.
The ticket-taker raised her eyebrows when she got to the blob on the floor. "We only accept legged-passengers on this trip."
The next in line offered, "It can ride in my baggage-wagon and watch." He shifted his bulk to reveal a luggage-filled baggage-cart. The largest suitcase jiggled, and suddenly a little crab-creature sneaked out and scurried away. The good Samaritan whipped out a tentacle, snatched it up, and deposited it into his mouth.
"My mid-flight snacks," he explained, crunching. To distract the surprised onlookers, he asked, "What was everyone's favorite tourist trip?"
Hesitantly, someone said, "The Disney-World-Paris opening was fun."
Then more voices burbled up from the crowd.
"I loved the "Gay Pride March" in San Francisco."
"Not as good as the '89 New Orleans Mardi Gras!"
The green man suggested, "Last year's Republican Convention was a kind of interesting…" He trailed off as others booed.
The ticket-taker announced, "The Shuttle to Earth is now boarding."
A small furry creature, scampering around his mother's three furry legs, stopped and bugled in a high-pitched squeak, "This year's Sci-Fi World-Con is going to be the best ever!"
The apple-red alien laughed and said, "Silly humans. They believe it's science fiction!"
