Urdu: Ghuncha e nashafufta ko dour say met dikha keh yuin Bosay ko poochhta houn maen, munh say mujhay bata keh yuin English:=== She shows me her lipstick from so very far When I'd rather kiss her lips the way they are - Urdu: Pursish e tarz e dilbery kijiay kya keh bin kahay Us kay her ik ishaaray say niklay hay yeh ada keh yuin English:=== Oh, the way she smiles and the way she winks And her beautiful eyes the way she blinks - Urdu: Raat kay waqt mai piay, saath raqeeb ko liay Aa'ay wo yaan Khuda keray, per na keray Khuda keh yuin English:=== But with my foe when she sits and drinks She looks like a rose; he simply stinks - Urdu: Ghair say raat kya bani, yeh jo kaha toe daekhiay Saamnay aan baithhna aur yeh daekhna keh yuin English:=== But when with my rival she spends the night She blows me up with the dynamite - Urdu: Bazm maen us kay roo ba roo kuin na khamoash baethiay Us ki toe khamashi maen bhee hay yehi muda'a keh yuin English:=== But comes she when to take the stock I get tongue-tied, and just can't talk - Urdu: Maen nay kaha jo bazm e naaz chahiay ghair say tahi Sun kay sitamzareef nay mujh ko uthha diya keh yuin English:=== To leave my foe when I asked her once She asked me to leave, and I felt like a dunce - Urdu: Mujh say kaha jo yaar nay, jaatay haen hoash kis terheh Daekh kay maeri baikhudi chalnay lagi hawa keh yuin English:=== It wasn't very smart, and I paid the cost I was completely blown; I was totally lost - Urdu: Kab mujhay koo e yaar maen rehnay ki wazay yaad hay Aainadaar bun gaie haerat e naqsh e paa keh yuin English:=== So all night long I was up on my feet And up and down I was going in her street - Urdu: Ger teray dil maen ho khayaal, wasl maen shouq ka zawaal Moaj muheet e aab maen maaray hay dast o paa keh yuin English:=== To have my gal I yearn and crave I'm anxious and restive like a tidal wave - Urdu: Jo yeh kahay keh Raikhta kuin keh ho rashk e Faarsi Gufta e GHALIB aek baar perh kay usay suna keh yuin English:=== But my verses in Urdu when, GHALIB, she reads They're better than in Persian she simply concedes ====
