Do As Written

Pain etch across her brow,
mysterious eyes were telling how.

Family at bedside,
put your concerns aside.

When her mind left her,
their will became hers.

Her will hidden deep within her mind,
where it is written you may find.

Engulfed by artificial means,
her breathing is not what it seems.

Entombed in white,
hopes of a endless night.

Lined across the window sill,
blooms vie to get their sunlit fill.

Every step echos across the carpetless floor,
silence awaits when echos no more.

Good wishes hoover above the lamp lit room,
cheerful smiles hearty laughter chases away the gloom.

Professional words from stuffed white coats,
mingle in the mind might not float.

Adminstered medications one at a time,
too many too few would be a crime.

In walks the suit,
who might carry a lawsuit.

He informs the family in do haste,
time is beginning to waste.

Family prolongs every breathe she takes,
Do As it is Written, so it will be her last
breathe she takes.

Do As Written, has her will states,
the lawyer hands the will, it states Do As Written.

End to artisfical means,
letting go is what it seems.

Natural death comes quickly to few,
and to some who even have a curfew.

Gates to the heavens open for you,
Do As Written, it may wait for you.
