White Water Life

The roar of water beckons me –
excitement lies ahead.
I focus all my energy
with no time left for dread.
My muscles strain to right the boat,
to steer my course, to stay afloat.
My muscles strain.
My muscles strain
against the current and the pain.

The roar of water beckons me –
I don’t fear the unknown.
I join the rush in harmony.
I know I’m not alone.
The challenges I face each day
place faith and courage on display.
The challenges.
The challenges
aren’t black or white but shades of gray.

The roar of water beckons me –
its song a soulful tune.
It recalls a lifetime’s symphony
among the boulders strewn.
I’m swept along within the song
with certainty that I belong.
I’m swept along.
I’m swept along
in currents fast but I am strong.

Notes

Day Three - "15 for 15 Contest --- Starts June 6 [18+]

The Trijan Refrain, created by Jan Turner, consists of three 9-line stanzas, for a total of 27 lines. Line 1 is the same in all three stanzas, although a variation of the form is not to repeat the same line at the beginning of each stanza. In other words, the beginning line of each stanza can be different. The first four syllables of line 5 in each stanza are repeated as the double-refrain for lines 7 and 8. The Trijan Refrain is a rhyming poem with a set meter and rhyme scheme as follows: Rhyme scheme: a/b/a/b/c/c/d,d refrain of first 4 words of line five /c Meter: 8/6/8/6/8/8/4, 4 refrain/8

Thank you for taking time to read my words. I would appreciate it if you took a moment and left a comment. Your reaction, impressions, criticisms, - yes, even praise *Smile* are all equally welcome.
