Running From the Truth
Rated: 13+ | Poetry | Writing | #1601995
A poem I wrote about relationship problems.
"Running from the Truth"

Confiscate these thoughts from my mind,
false memories I use to cover up the lies
that I, that I try to force into the shadowed depths
but sooner or later those words come back even stronger
come and remain even longer, then before
find the cure, an escape away from those days
they're no more, least that's what I like to say
forgetting will make everything okay...

The past is haunting in the background,
it's presence is surrounding me now
don't whisper a sound, don't say it out loud
darling are you proud, I'm lost cause of you
no emotions allowed, cause I'm running from the truth...

Refrain myself from pondering to deeply,
once you trigger images it becomes a tragedy
frame by frame, each face that passes you want to stay
but it's all been done and said, nothing's left
and you find yourself trying to grasp onto a person
that's not there, figuring out what they meant...

The past is haunting in the background,
it's presence is surrounding me now
don't whisper a sound, don't say it out loud
darling are you proud, I'm lost cause of you
no emotions allowed, cause I'm running from the truth...

Slow down time, let each second go by
so your eyes can take in this view
it'll end soon, this is proof
no one is perfect, already know it
feelings are a disability, keeping you
from being able to walk away smoothly, another wound...

no emotions allowed, cause I'm running from the truth...
