King of the Hill


With penguin patience, every rock -
a challenge taken without dread.
Alone, I've wandered from the flock,
my focus lies on what's ahead.

King of the hill! I've reached the top.
The world is now my oyster. (Yumm)
I've got the keys to life's bakeshop -
Now it's all cake and never crumb.

Though arduous, I always kept
my eyes upon the goals I set
(and one eye open as I slept
to stay aware of every threat).

Success is work, it's not just chance.
To reach the top is quite a schlup.
Still, it never hurts to take a glance
to see what or whom is sneaking up!

In pride and glory, as I bask,
the doubts I've had become quite clear.
The nagging question that I ask:
"Where the hell do I go from here?"

Upon my face, I find a frown
and suddenly I start to cry.
From here, the only way is down.
Oh, how I wish that I could fly!
