A cheer for a long-time county hero! Written for "The Cramp"

Prompt: It's 1:30am and the Hunsucker Bar's bartender has announced last call. Write a short story or poem about the people left inside the bar before closing. Who are they, and why are they there??? Only rule is you must use Hunsucker Bar as the name of the bar.

Here's to Hunsucker

Here’s to Hunsucker, a hell-of-a lush,
He brewed his own whiskey from mash he called mush.

Way down in the holler, his "still" perked away
While down in the basement, he brewed beer all day.

Way back in those days, when liquor was sin,
Old Grampa’d be smiling (and all of his kin).

And pretty darn soon, old Gramps came of fame
In an underground, secret-type bar with his name.

And it still stands today, the old Hunsucker place
I happen to know, cause I bartend the space.

“Last call,” I announce to ears that don’t hear,
The patrons too happy and call for more beer!

I pour the last shots for the regulars there,
Two asleep at the bar, three slumped in a chair.

The rest start to hush for closing call’s toast,
I ring the big bell to salute our first host:

“Hunsucker!” they slur, as they stumble and rise
“Hunsucker!” they chorus, their glasses held high.

“To our county hero - Hunsucker,” they cry,
“One hell-of-a lush. Wouldn’t let us go dry!”

“Here’s to old Gramps, who made you all souses!
“Time now,” I demand, “to return to your spouses!”
