The Ouija

The Ouija Board, with lights down low,
we thought it just a silly game.
The planchette moved from spot to spot
as the letters - words became ...

"It was a dark and eerie night"
so all the scary tales begin
to set the stage for Halloween
and a visit from the Great Pumpkin.

This year there is a scary twist.
It seems the horrors are all real
as politicians and Wall Street
combine to play "Let's Make A Deal".

Creaking noises from the market,
as prices sag like Spanish moss,
is money gushing down the drain
as our savings take the loss.

No longer do we need to fear
the dreaded "bump in the night."
It's just the sound of investors
as their confidence takes flight.

The tearing, chomping sound you hear
isn't some monster's teeth gnashing.
It's big banks eating little banks
falling prey to value slashing.

The nightmare isn't Freddie Krueger
it's been renamed 'Freddie Mac.'
When Jason wields his cost-cutting knife
it now ends up in our back.

So this Halloween beware the knock,
play it cool, keep your composure,
or the trick may be on you
as someone serves you with foreclosure.

The board filled us with such a fright -
we didn't sleep at all that night!
