Urdu:  Tum jaano tum ko ghair say jo rasm o raah ho
          Mujh ko bhee poochhtay raho toe kya gunaah ho

English:=== Your seeing my rival I do not mind
                    If to me you're also a little more kind
                                            -

Urdu:  Bachtay naheen moakhiza e roz e hashr say
          Qaatil ager raqeeb hay toe tum gawaah ho

English:=== On Judgment Day you'll be in the dock
                  For you saw my rival giving me the sock
                                            -

Urdu:  Kya wo bhee baigunaahkush o haqnaashanaas haen
          Maana keh tum basher naheen, khursheed o maah ho

English:=== Is it also as cruel, my love, as you are?
                  For you're so like Venus, the morning star
                                            -

Urdu:  Ubhra hua naqaab maen hay un kay aek taar
          Merta houn maen keh yeh na kisi ki nigaah ho

English:==== And how come, darling, I always fail
                    When my rival has access behind the veil
                                              -

Urdu:  Jab maikada chhuta toe phir ab kya jageh ki qayd
          Masjid ho, madressa ho, koie khaanqaah ho   

English:=== And if in the saloon I can't get the wine 
                  I might as well go and sit in a shrine

Urdu:  Suntay haen jo bahisht ki taareef, sub durust
          Laikin Khuda keray wo teri jalwagaah ho

English:=== Of the wonders of heaven I'm very aware
                  But I certainly hope I'll find you there   

Urdu:  GHALIB bhee ger na ho toe kuchh aisa zarar naheen
          Dunya ho ya Rab, aur mera baadshaah ho

English:=== For me, says GHALIB, no one does care
                  But they pray our sovereign is always there
