Lesson 3 – Part Two
Okay, I don’t usually sleep with a sleep mask—but for this experiment I did. It’s surprising how much light there really is in a dark room. With the sleep mask on, I was in total darkness…which was wonderful. Last night was great! It was like being at the bottom of the ocean or on another planet. It’s always quiet at night (especially if I lie on my left side—it’s a bitch getting older) but with the light blocked out—even the tiny bits from under the door or slit between draperies are gone. The time before I fall asleep is when I always become my characters, work out dialogs and emotions. I lie in bed, and act out whichever scene I’m currently working on. I play all the characters in turn and will work on dialog—listening the how the words sound—trying different wordings. Sometimes I might even try the scene from different POV’s. I’m might have to start sleeping with the mask—because the blackout proved to be extremely productive.
