Imagination's Mesmerization

It’s neither you nor I that are mistaken,
but worldly circumstances that inhibit
and place us in this pathway of restrictions.
We travel only by imagination.

I must confess I nearly shed some teardrops,
on reading what you’ve written in your essay.
The danger isn't over, that I'll do so,
for you have captured, sealed within your essence,
the things I've sought throughout my life, and always,
remain as hopes and dreams, but not fruition.

The poem I wrote with my interpretation,
was written with a very real emotion
gleaned from the errant wandering, wondering, wanting:
the searching for the non-existent rainbow's
pot of gold that lies beyond my ending.

Oh creature, with your words exceeding siren's
songs with that sensuous something, still un-sampled,
enticing and alluring to this sailor,
of seas of thought, sensations to the body,
that though unknown, my fantasies embodied,
with rapture, to we mortals so forbidden,
that we can only wander, with dumb longings
that lie beyond our power to express them.

These words are strange, for they come from a person
who is and always has been very able
to step back from entangling circumstances,
with some part of the brain ever possessing
ability to look beyond the moment.
There is an ancient wisdom (foolish saying),
declaring, "There is no fool like an old fool".
Unable to refute it by my actions:
My truth may lie well hidden in that statement.
