Urdu:  Gham e dunya say ger paaie bhee fursat ser uthhaanay ki
          Falak ka daekhna taqreeb taeray yaad aanay ki   

English:=== Some respite when I get from sorrow and pain
                  Her memory comes back to haunt me again
                                            -

Urdu:  Khulay ga kis terheh mazmoon meray maktoob ka ya Rab
          Qasam khaaie hay us kaafir nay kaaghaz kay jalaanay ki

English:=== It's no use sending her a nice note
                  She'll burn it or throw it somewhere remote
                                              -

Urdu:  Lipatna perniaan maen shola e aatish ka aasaan hay
          Walay mushkil hay hikmat dil maen soaz e gham chhupaanay ki

English:=== It's easier to hide in your clothes the fire
                  Than to hide in your heart a burning desire
                                              -

Urdu:  Unhaen manzoor apnay zakhmioun ka daekh aana tha
          Uthhay thay saer e gul ko, daekhna shoukhi bahaanay ki

English:=== When she goes in the street to take a walk
                  Of her wounded lovers she takes the stock
                                              -

Urdu:  Hamaari saadgi thi iltafaat e naaz per merna
          Tera aana na tha zaalim mager tamheed jaanay ki

English:=== She has come to stay I like to believe
                  But she comes to my place only to leave
                                                -

Urdu:  Lakadkoab e hawaadis ka tahamul ker naheen sakti
          Meri taaqat keh zaamin thi butoun kay naaz uthhaanay ki

English:=== It's easier for me to live with her pride
                  Than my everyday woes to take in stride
                                                -

Urdu:  Kahoun kya khoobi e auzaa e ibna e zamaan GHALIB
          Badi ki us nay jis say hum nay ki thi baarhaa naeki

English:=== And when you're good and others are bad
                  It makes you feel, GHALIB, so very sad
