"Come on, one more. It's not far!" Liam, my older brother, insisted.
It was getting dark. I was scared and wanted to go home. Still, My mom said I had to follow him. We walked down to the last decorated residence at the end of the street. A few older kids dressed as ghosts, goblins and witches passed by. I wanted this night to be over. Looking at the steps, I hesitated. Among the fake bats and spider webs, a large monster stared down at me. "I don't wanna go!" Liam gave me a little shove and together we climbed the stairs. He knocked on the wooden door and waited for the old lady to answer. "Trick or treat!" She smiled and gave Liam and me each some candy. As soon as she closed the door, I bolted down the stairs, nearly tripping over my devil tail, and waited for my brother in the street. "Chicken!" he yelled at me. I didn't care. I wanted to go home. Then I saw the monster rising from the steps behind my brother. I froze. Liam screamed as the monster chased him all the way to the street. My brother hid behind me, a look of horror on his face. The monster drew back his mask and smiled at me. I smiled back. Halloween wasn't so bad after all...
