There comes a light rap at my door on the spookiest of all nights. The clock tells me the hour is late, so the knock I should ignore. The porch light has been out, and the candy bowl is empty. Since I have no more treats, this must be tricks no doubt. I flip up the switch, and peek out the window. It's not a little prankster I see, my gasp catches on a hitch. There stands a handsome man, dressed in black from head to toe. I turn the knob and open the door, with no hesitation in my plan. I invite him right on in, like I've known him for years. My brain must be in a fog, why did I just let him within? He steps into the house, his presence is overflowing. I don't question his movements, quick and quiet as a mouse. Closer to me he nears and I see absolute perfection. I am drawn to his eyes, resembling two black spheres. My last conscious thought, push him away and get help! But my mind goes blank, and I knew then I was caught. His lips do not move but clearly I hear his voice. "Your treats are not gone, and this to you I will prove." As he lowers his head, I see two glistening fangs. With an all-knowing smile, he wipes away my dread. ~40 lines~ Day 1 - Prompt: "Write a poem about a vampire, but DO NOT use the word 'blood', or its variants" Written for:
