Prompt: Contentment
For a river of poetry and prose contest. Are You Content? Are you content with your lot in life? Is there anything that you would change? What would you want to do differently? How would you rearrange? Take a good look at your life, my friend. Do you find that it’s really so bad? For when we obtain the things we want we are frequently sad. Trying to keep up with Neighbor Jones causes much sore temptation, I know. Discontentment caused by jealousy can create a hard blow. Are you searching for treasure untold, or for your fifteen minutes of fame? Your own satisfaction you should seek in winning this life’s game. Instead of searching for what you lack relax, sit back and enjoy your life. Contentment is just a frame of mind; pleasure minus your strife. The next time you’re running the rat race to get ahead of those you call friend think how leisurely your life could be if this nonsense did end. Be content with the treasures you have for they’re better than silver or gold. Be happy! Live your life day by day. Enjoy what this day holds!
