The Start
He knew from the start

I met you a short time ago,
when I was just,
too afraid to show,
what I had come to know

Now you are just so far away,
can't ever hear,
the feelings I say,
or see my light for you every day

Now I know we lined up,
right from the start,
I feel you deep in my heart,
and now I know we'll never part

I know I'm just a stupid old man,
too old for you,
I do understand,
the boy I become holding your hand

So,
please forgive these foolish discerning thoughts,
or pain I have brought,
or saddness I've wrought,
I received much more of you than I bought

I met you a short time ago,
when I was just,
too afraid to show,
what I had come to know

Now I know we lined up,
right from the start,
I feel you deep in my heart,
and now I know we'll never part
