Still my Child

Precious in my arms I hold you,
Cradled in myself you rode.
Now when face to face I see you,
You have gone to lands beyond.

Sadness overtakes my being,
Wrenched anguish rips my soul.
Look for eyes that never see me,
Your's are closed without a view.

Together lost a life of learning,
Laughter not to be your sound.
Silence hurts in quiet gatherings,
Gently, softly, I put you down.

Now remembered in the moments,
Quiet walks and boisterous crowds.
You are here within beside me,
In my heart forever found.
