The Color Orange

The Color Orange

Bankers, accountants, morticians
don't wear orange or yellow
just perhaps a smear of red power tie.

Children, poppies , autumn trees
drape themselves in harvest shades
like priests in multi-hued vestements
celebrating sacerdotal festivals.

God, make me a glad glee-singer
in garments of pumpkin, pomegranate, persimmon,
trailing streams of music and laughter.
