NEW PROMPT:
You are invited to THE best Halloween Party in your town. You must wear a costume to get in the door, and there will be generous cash prizes for the best costumes -- you can come as anyone or anything you want -- the only catch is you can't buy a costume, you have to create it from items you already have around the house.
Write a COMEDY story or poem about trying to come up with the best Halloween costume ever, and how it turns out. You may write in first or third person.
Now, is that REALLY ME??
I set out for the costume store--
I went there on a lark
I needed a costume; whats more--,
I wanted to go dark!
My budget couldn't pay for glitz;
I would have to create!
So, armed with my designing fits
I set out to look great!!
I wanted to go as a ghost
but had to make my suit--
I used old bedsheets for the most
alarming spook-recruit!
I wanted the best garb ever worn
but all I had was cloth!
And with my sewing to adorn,
this ghost looked like a MOTH!
The mirror cracked and caught my look;,
I scarcely could believe
the moth-ghost looked like Captain Hook--
now is that REALLY ME??
