Just Like You
I wish I did not have this failing that prevents me from being just like you.

The long road snakes through close pressing trees
Wind kisses my nape with lips that freeze
Frantic pace defies my grumbling knees.

Hark! I thought I heard a haunting moan
As shadows lengthen, my fear has grown
I pray for succour, but none is shown.

For human failing, what fates beckon?
My deep dark secret: would you reckon,
Right for left I would confuse again?

If I can get back home safe and sound,
If I can stop going round and round,
This lesson into my head I’ll pound.

A big red ‘R’ stuck on each right shoe
A glowing ‘L’ on the left one too,
Then I can navigate, just like you.

Day 6 - Prompt: "My deepest darkest secret..."

I really have this right/left confusion, it makes me afraid of going anywhere alone, I can get lost even if it's as simple as 'first left, then right'! *Laugh*

I was tired of quatrains, pleasant as they are, so we have five tercets with nine syllable lines right through.
