Languidly it twitches seductively moving towards me, undulating nearer, nearer. I watch, mesmerized at first the hairs on my neck stand on end! This serpent-like entity teases and twists. I know that it will wait until the most opportune time to strike. I can’t let it attack first. I gauge the nano-second it will make its move. Now! I pounce! The chase is on. Round, and round, breathlessly I run never seeming to either out run or make any head-way on the hyper furry object. My senses are heightened. My chest heaves. I sputter and hiss furiously in pursuit. Exhausted, we reach a stalemate. I collapse, spent. I still see the offender waiting to assault again. It stealthily moves toward me. I plan an ambush. Game on! Running at break-neck speed. Around, and around, and around in circles, clockwise then counter-clockwise. For hours it seems this manic frenzy continues. Finally, I curl into a ball and sleep, and my tail wraps tightly around my tired body. I will chase it again another day!
