I remember the Judge,
from my first state bid,
His words were very blunt
I was only a kid:
"Keep getting yourself in trouble
And the only bell you'll ever hear ring,
Is the "Quiet Bell" while doing life
In notorious Sing Sing"...
Remember all the times
that we were never coming back?
With all of those "promises"
Over-crowding they'd never lack.
Remember al the courtrooms
And all of those days,
All of the sentences
your mind in a haze.
Remember the bullpens
All the bolgna and cheese,
Your stomache yearned for them
ever since they said "Freeze!"...
Remember the days
of sadness and tears,
All of that pain
for all of those years.
Remember all the people
in thier own little hell,
For an early release
their soul they would sell.
Remember the searches
And all the lock-downs,
All of the bus rides
through all of those towns.
Remember all the screaming
when we locked out for chow,
How I ever made it
God only knows how!
Remember being alone
while surrounded by many
Been coming to prison
since bubblegum was a penny.
Remember the yard
and your skin turning brown,
For theres no place to hide
from the sun shining down.
Remember your hunger
through thousands of nights,
Through all of the loneliness
and all of the fights.
Remembering all the months
you were on "keep-lock"
Back in Dannemora, SIng Sing,
Greenhaven and the "Stock".
Remember all the handball
and all of the rec.,
All of the arguing
when you put them in check.
Remember all the "red dots"
And all the blood that was shed
Remember all the times
you wished you were dead!
Going to the "throne"
the Judge has you torn,
Telling you your Parole Officer
hasn't even been born...
You're 55 years old
And even a blind man can see,
That you'll never again walk on
The Land of The Free.
