So What Makes Your Novel So Special Anyhow, Raven?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Compelling features? Well, the main one I suppose is the idea of a "shifter" being different from a werewolf. I'm tired of reading about werewolves who go all feral, murderous, and crazy and who can't control their changing. I wanted to read about a shapeshifter who maintained full sanity and control and who was unaffected by the moon, silver, or any of the traditional werewolf stuff. In short, I wanted the shifter to be a good guy, who was perhaps a bit embarrassed by his ability but who didn't find it a bizzare and supernatural state of being. And I also wanted to set a fantasy story in Tudor technology instead of medieval--Henry VIII instead of Edward II.
Also, there's a servant named Ted that I like quite a bit who is in the opening scene. And royal intrigues are always fun.
But I can blather on for a long time-- I'll let you read the first chapter and see for yourself.
