                                Ghalib Urdu 84


Urdu:  Dil say teri nigaah jiger tak uter gaie
          Donoun ko ik ada maen razamand ker gaie

English:===Her eyes have captured my heart and soul
                  And now they are in complete control
                                          -

Urdu:  Shaq ho gaya hay seena, khusha lazzat e faraagh
          Takleef e perdadaari e zakhm e jiger gaie

English:=== My chest is rent; it is open wide
                  My wounded heart now I cannot hide
                                          -

Urdu:  Wo baada e shabaana ki sermastiaan kahaan
          Uthhiay bus ab keh lazzat e khaab e saher gaie

English:  Last night I drank a lot of wine
              But now it's time to rise and shine
                                            -

Urdu:  Urhti phiray hay khaak meri koo e yaar maen
          Baaray ab aey hawa, hawas e baal o per gaie

English:=== My nest is ruined; I have lost my things
                  I'm now a bird without the wings   
                                            -

Urdu:  Daekho toe dilfaraibi e andaaz e naqsh e pa
          Moaj e kharaam e yaar bhee kya gul kater gaie

English:=== Look, how she swings, and how she rocks
                  And nobody walks the way she walks
                                            -

Urdu:  Her bulhawas nay husnparasti sha'ar ki
          Ab aabroo e shaiwa e ahl e nazer gaie

English:=== Now everyone calls himself a lover
                  But faced with trouble, he takes the cover
                                              -

Urdu:  Nazzaaray nay bhee kaam kya waan naqaab ka
          Masti say her nigeh teray rukh per bikhher gaie

English:=== And when he sees her gorgeous face
                  He's totally dazzled by her beauty and grace
                                              -

Urdu:  Ferda o di ka tafriqa yak baar mit gaya
          Kal tum gaay to hum pay qayaamat guzer gaie

English:=== And when she leaves him for someone else
                  His utter destruction she quickly spells
                                              -

Urdu:  Maara zamaanay nay ASADullah Khan tumhaen
          Wo walwalay kahaan, wo jawaani kidhher gaie

English:  And GHALIB, like me he's a victim of time
              Which is slowly draining away his prime
