The creation of life, worlds, the universe, and everything in between wasn't an easy task. There was much that had to be decided, debated and sometimes put aside for later contemplation with the hopes of the solution coming in the end (but not that end). Of all the heated debates, the one over free will versus predetermined plans drew up quite the struggle. This is one of the conversations that took place. Names have been created to make it easier to understand.
Asherah - Mother Goddess
El - God Most High
Tehwom - Goddess of the Deeps
Zedek - God of Light and Protection
Zedek: Why are we even discussing this. I thought we'd made a decision on the need for things to be pre-ordained. I don't care for all this free will chatter.
Tehwom: Do you have something better to do? Need to go play with your light bugs?
Zedek: They have a name, you know. Fireflies.
Asherah: Calm down you too. We don't have time for you to have that fight, again. We cannot have everything decided ahead of time. Neither of you are willing to put the effort in creating that plan anyways. So, let's get to work.
El: We are at a place in the time of creation where a decision is necessary.
Asherah: There is merit to giving free will. Taking the control and putting it in their own hands can make them appreciate the life that they sew. If we don't give them some freedom, the life becomes empty.
El: We cannot always be the puppet masters; sometimes the strings should be cut and the puppets set free.
Tehrom: But if we let go of control, does that not lead to chaos?
Asherah: Perhaps. But chaos can be good.
Tehrom: Granted. So, let's say we cut the strings and give them all free will. Then what? Higher power, like us, will have no control over anything.
El: And you see that as a problem, Tehrom?
Tehrom: Well, I would think so. Some freedom is one thing, but total freedom?
Zedek: Shows what you know.
Tehrom: And you know more? What do you think we should do then?
Zedek: There is no way of taking control out of the hands of the Power, no matter how much will is given.
El: Good.
Tehrom: For once. So, what do we do?
Asherah: We do both. There are certain aspects of both that we need and so we take parts of both and combine them to get a better result. We give them free will and also a plan, a....
